I am not opposed to experience, what I am opposed to is the fact that in the Serie A experience is most always preferred to youth and therefore many young players don’t get the opportunity to develop themselves.

Somebody like Javier Zanetti is different, in his case he has character and personality on the field and still the ability to direct the game, such is the case with Pirlo as well whom I believe can still make a great impact for some time. However a player such as Gennaro Gattuso should bow to the likes of Mathieu Flamini, unfortunately his role on the field is largely reliant on age and physical shape.

No, but I agree. I think Inter are headed in the right direction. Cruz, Crespo, and Figo are done after this season. Materazzi and Cordoba the year after.

It is just hard to let go to proven ability.

Now, when it comes to Javier Zanetti, I hope he plays until he his 50!

Thanks a lot for the preview, Ben! I’m really hoping that using 2 men up front pays off for Bologna – Mihajlovic himself didn’t sound convinced of his own strategy, but we’ll see.
